1. About Challeng'em

Challeng'em is a mobile application developed and operated by the Challeng'em team ("we", "us", or "our"). The app provides a multiplayer challenge platform where users create habit-based challenges, complete daily tasks, earn points and item drops, and compete on leaderboards with friends.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old (or 16 years old in the European Economic Area) to use Challeng'em. By using the app, you confirm that you meet this age requirement.

If you are under 18, you confirm that you have your parent or legal guardian's permission to use the app and agree to these Terms.

3. Account Registration

• You must sign in via Google or Apple to create an account. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account.
• Your nickname must be 3–15 characters and must not impersonate another person or contain offensive language.
• You must provide accurate information during onboarding.
• You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
• You must not create multiple accounts or share your account with others.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use Challeng'em to:

• Harass, bully, threaten, or abuse other users.
• Post content that is hateful, discriminatory, sexually explicit, defamatory, or otherwise illegal.
• Cheat, exploit bugs, use automation tools, or attempt to manipulate leaderboards or game mechanics.
• Attempt to gain unauthorised access to other accounts, our servers, or the Firebase backend.
• Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the app.
• Use the app for any commercial purpose without our prior written consent.
• Violate any applicable law or regulation.

We reserve the right to suspend or permanently ban accounts that violate these rules, without refund of any unused subscription or purchases.

5. Health, photosensitivity, and accessibility

Some individuals—including persons with photosensitive epilepsy—may experience seizures triggered by flashing lights or certain repeating visual patterns on displays. Challeng'em includes colourful motion and brief flashes during gameplay (for example, certain full-screen effects when items are used).

To minimise flashes tied to item use, Challeng'em provides Reduce item effect animations in Profile → Settings. Smartphone accessibility menus may also expose app-wide or system-wide “reduce motion” options. If you are unsure whether you should use the app, consult a healthcare professional; stop using the app immediately if you feel unwell during play. Nothing in these Terms is medical or legal advice.

International accessibility norms for digital content include the WCAG (for instance, guidance on flashing and seizure risk in WCAG 2.x Success Criterion 2.3). Compliance with WCAG or any specific statute is not promised; your rights may depend on mandatory laws in your country (examples: the Americans with Disabilities Act and related U.S. implementing rules; the European Accessibility Act and implementing national laws in the EU/EEA; the United Kingdom Equality Act 2010; other local disability or consumer laws). If you need legal advice regarding accessibility or health, consult a qualified professional.

6. Challenge Rules

• Challenges must have a genuine purpose (habit tracking, personal improvement, friendly competition). Challenges designed to harm, humiliate, or coerce participants are prohibited.
• Challenge creators are responsible for ensuring that invited participants have agreed to join.
• Challenge tasks must not require participants to perform illegal, dangerous, or harmful activities.
• In-challenge chat must comply with our Acceptable Use policy above.

7. Challeng'em Pro Subscription

Challeng'em offers a Pro subscription tier at $4.99/month or $39.99/year (prices may vary by region and are subject to change).

• A 7-day free trial is available for new Pro subscribers. You will not be charged during the trial period.
• Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period.
• You can manage or cancel your subscription through your Apple App Store or Google Play account settings.
• We do not offer refunds for partial subscription periods, except where required by law.
• Pro features are subject to change; we will provide reasonable notice of any significant reductions in features.
• Challeng'em Pro is for personal, non-commercial use only.

8. In-App Purchases

Additional items, cosmetics, and convenience packs may be available for purchase within the app. All purchases are:

• Final and non-refundable except where required by law.
• Processed through the Apple App Store or Google Play.
• Cosmetic or convenience-based only — no purchase grants an unfair gameplay advantage (no pay-to-win).

9. Intellectual Property

All content in Challeng'em — including but not limited to the app name, logo, design, graphics, item names, gameplay mechanics, and written content — is owned by or licensed to us and is protected by intellectual property laws.

You retain ownership of any content you create within the app (e.g., challenge names, chat messages). By submitting content, you grant us a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive licence to use, display, and distribute that content as necessary to operate the service.

You must not use our name, logo, or branding without prior written permission.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

Challeng'em is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to fitness for a particular purpose, availability, or error-free operation.

We do not guarantee that the app will be uninterrupted, secure, or free of bugs or viruses. Your use of the app is at your own risk.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use Challeng'em, including loss of data, loss of profits, or loss of goodwill.

Our total liability to you for any claim relating to these Terms or the app shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

12. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to Challeng'em at any time, with or without notice, for any reason including breach of these Terms.

You may delete your account at any time from the Profile screen in the app. Upon deletion, your data will be permanently removed within 30 days, subject to our data retention obligations.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts competent in the jurisdiction where we are incorporated.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via the app or by email. Continued use of Challeng'em after the effective date of any changes constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms.
